dreams can come true, believes raghu mukherjee. it happened when he won the grasim mr india 2002 contest. things have changed a lot in these few days since he became a winner. "i am the same boy i was, but now when i step out of my home, others look at me differently," he says. raghu got into modelling just over a year ago and landed major assignments, including airtel and wearhouse camel, which gave him nationwide exposure.
he''s also done more than 50 ramp shows. and now, after his recent victory, he has had offers to play the leading man in some kannada movies. having always been what he calls an ordinary boy, raghu''s fundas in life are simple. every experience is a lesson for him. "coming from the sort of background i do, i feel i really have to work hard and make a success of my career," he says. his focused approach to his career has certainly helped. "i was always mature for my age and my dad taught me how important it is to be responsible," says raghu. he says it is thanks to modelling that he has learnt how to socialise and mix with people from different backgrounds. the other perks of this glamorous profession is the opportunity to look good. "everybody should take the trouble to groom themselves and look good," he says. "no matter what profession you are in, you must take pride in your appearance." as for his own appearance, he works out for four hours everyday. raghu likes to eat healthy and loves the food cooked by his mother. "i know the meals she cooks are wholesome and healthy. the other time i enjoyed the food was at the hilton golden palms where the contest began. the swimming pool there is the best and it helped me to keep fit. that place is full of energy and peace," says mr india.
